Top Five Threads.

It's a pleasant feature of liberal blogs that the comments threads are, perhaps inevitably, at least as entertaining as the posts that precipitate them.br /br /So, inspired by a href="http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=23736"this Balloon Juice thread/a in which Peter Daou hilariously ignores a href="http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/abrahamlin109276.html"Lincoln's dictum/a, and results in such inspired such marvels a href="http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=23736#comment-1292106"as/abr /br /blockquotespan style="font-size:85%;"Who the fuck is Peter Daou? /spanpspan style="font-size:85%;"The “leave Britney Hilary Sarah alone” boy?/span/p/blockquotebr /...I bring you The InstaPutz Top Five! These threads were either madly entertaining, or had unexpected long-term repercussions.br /p/pbr /1. span style="font-weight: bold;"Alex Rawls loses his shit/span (a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20060113065943/http://tbogg.blogspot.com/2006/01/lunacy-abounds-nuts.html"Tbogg/a)br /br /span style="font-style: italic;"Post Premise/span: Alec Rawls, a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rawls"whose father/a apparently took some bad DNA in college, believed the memorial design was Flight 93 was an "Islamo-fascist shrine."br /br /span style="font-style: italic;"Thread Reaction/span: Laughter. Rawls subsequently doubles-down on the crazy.br /br /span style="font-style: italic;"a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20060113065943/http://tbogg.blogspot.com/2006/01/lunacy-abounds-nuts.html#113667957378524585"Sample Gem/a:br /br //spanblockquotespan style="font-size:85%;"People here seem to be under the impression that a half mile wide crescent, oriented on Mecca, can occur by random chance. I think that is pretty flakey, but don't worry, Murdoch provided plenty of confirmation. Look further into my analysis. There is also an array of crescents of trees in the Tower of voices section of the memorial. These are turned exactly 90 degrees to the large red crescent, so that a line across the tips of the crescents points to Mecca. There are numerous other proofs of intent in Murdoch's plan as well. He obviously anticipated the willfull blindness of people like you tboggers, and put in the multiply redundant proof necessary to make his accomplishment irrefutable once it is a fait accompli. Wake you little brains up. Take a look.br /br /As for whether rotating the whole structure 90 degrees would make it acceptable, not at this point. Once the terrorist-memorial is discovered, obviously no remnant of it can be allowed to remain, because that is a remnant of a terrorist memorial.br /a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20060113065943/http://tbogg.blogspot.com/2006/01/lunacy-abounds-nuts.html#113667957378524585" title="permanent link"#/a posted by a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20060113065943/http://www.blogger.com/profile/3669862" rel="nofollow"Alec Rawls/a /span /blockquotebr /The thread immediately attains legend status.br /br /br /2. span style="font-weight: bold;"Former Penthouse letters editor is aware of all internet traditions/span (a href="http://lefarkins.blogspot.com/2008/06/thanks-to-911-shes-outraged-by.html"LGamp;M/a)br /br /span style="font-style: italic;"Post /spanspan style="font-style: italic;"Premise/span: Wingnuts believe Michelle Obama is a racist.
