The cold weather here in Britain recently has got people talking. Temperatures have fallen as low as -12C in some places, which is not what we expect on an island that - after all - normally has fairly temperate weather conditions. In a bit of one-upmanship, though, a Canadian author writes about bitter Canadian winters which seem to leave ours looking very mind. I don't fancy the idea of -25C or -40C temperatures!
