On violence in the Early Modern period

Graachii has an interesting article on violence in the Early Modern period . It is difficult to estimate the level of violence in Britain in the Middle Ages and afterwards. There are not as many statistics available as they are for contemporary crimes. However, it could well be that people lived in a psychological millieu that was more accepting of violence in certain interactions. The past could have been a lot more violent than the present.
