This article highlights that if the Obama administration can carry out its previously-stated plan to withdraw from Iraq then this could leave those who have worked with the US authorities in a difficult situation. Iraqis who have worked for the US Army and civil authorities and for institutions associated with them could be at risk of kidnap or murder from Arab nationalists or Islamic fundamentalists. It is important that the US gives these people asylum in the United States if they request it. It is the least the US can do - given what has transpired in Iraq since its invasion.
