The US and British governments have been too soft on the bankers

So says a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2009/jun/17/alistair-darling-barack-obama-economy" Larry Elliott in an article in the Guardian /a. The Great Depression saw the US pass the Glass-Steagall Act. Nothing equivalent seems to be emerging today.br /br /Elliott praises the ideas of Hyman Minsky. Minsky saw how a private banking system can help add an extra element of potential crisis to the system. Unfortunately, his ideas don't seem to have been heeded by policy-makers on both sides of the Atlantic.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/38622711-6036670896016114518?l=vinospoliticalblog.blogspot.com'//div
