Following the US elections, there is a piece on the demographics of the Democratic voters in them on Matthew Yglesias' weblog . He calculates that 60% of Democratic voters on Tuesday were either non-white or white non-Christians. The Republican party, if it panders to the religious right and only targets Christian white voters, is thus likely to be in a difficult position in a country like the US which is a land of immigrants and has a very diverse electorate.
