Could Michael Ignatieff become leader of the Canadian Liberals?

This article reports that Michael Ignatieff is putting his name forward to be a candidate for leader of the Liberals.

It does seem the Canadian Liberals are in a bad way. They, as a centrist party, have tried to face both ways - both left and right. But, as the old saying goes, if you stand in the middle of the road, you'll get run over. Their support has fallen while that of the NDP and Greens has risen.

To my mind, any new Liberal leader - be it Ignatieff or someone else - will need to reach out to the NDP and Greens. Only by doing so and by being willing to work with them can Canada get a government that reflects the wishes of the majority of its electorate who support the centre & the left.
