People of above-average weight may be happier than those of below-average weight

So argues Razib , based on a survey from the US General Social Survey. Almost 25% of people of below-average weight describe themselves as not happy. About 15% describe themselves as very happy.

In contrast, only about 15-20% of overweight people describe themselves as not happy. And almost 30% describe themselves as very happy. It does imply that the social obsession with thinness does not affect people's happiness much. It is those who have complied with this social trend who are less happy than those who have not.
