The high drop-out rate among children from working-class backgrounds who went to grammar schools



The a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/letters/letters-grammar-schools-1765314.html" letters page /a of the Independent has a letter pointing out that the Crowther Report in 1959 found that 40% of children from unskilled working-class backgrounds who went to grammar schools ended up leaving without a single qualification.
