a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article6739811.ece"Times:/abr /br /blockquotep A wife of Baitullah Mehsud, the Taleban leader in Pakistan, has been killed in a US missile strike as authorities close in on the country's most wanted man. /p p The woman, who has not been named in accordance with local custom, was at the house of her father, Ikram Uddin, a cleric, in the Ladha district of South Waziristan, when it was hit by two missiles fired from an unmanned drone aircraft in the early hours of this morning. /p p Pakistani officials were unable to confirm a rumour that Mr Mehsud, who took the woman as his second wife last year, was also hit in the strike. /p p Mr Mehsud is the head of the Tehrik-e-Taliban militant group and has an estimated 20,000 men under his control. He has close links with al-Qaeda and the main Afghan Taleban and has been accused of organising dozens of suicide attacks in Pakistan, including the one which killed the former premier Benazir Bhutto in December 2007.br //ppThe Taleban leader, who has a $5 million bounty on his head, has been the target of repeated US strikes in recent months. According to Pakistani security officials, he narrowly escaped an attack on the funeral of a Taleban leader last month.br //pp...br //p/blockquotea href="http://www.reuters.com/article/latestCrisis/idUSISL522895"Reuters reports/a that Mehsud was not there at the time of the attack. My guess is that he will avoid her funeral too for fear of attack. There is great danger for those too close to a terror leader. Mehsud is a man who has no conscience in killing non combatants. Perhaps he is feeling some of the pain he has caused others, but I doubt it. He seems to have a mind set that rationalizes everyone's death but his own.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5051247-1204761774121616222?l=prairiepundit.blogspot.com'//div
