Duncan a href="http://duncanseconomicblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/29/replacing-kingman-the-future-of-ukfi/" argues strongly against /a the idea that John Kingman, the outgoing head of UKFI, should be replaced by someone from the financial sector. He argues that, if the government wants UKFI to be headed by someone with private sector experience, it would be better to hire someone from a non-financial firm. They at least will have some realisation of the effect of banking decisions on the real economy.
