This a href="http://flipchartfairytales.wordpress.com/2009/07/28/londons-financial-pre-eminence-spare-me-the-shroud-waving/" good article /a from Flipchart Fairy Tales points out that the City is doing a lot of 'shroud waving' about how new regulations might damage London's financial pre-eminence and trying to use this to challenge the idea of more regulation. As the author points out, it is inevitable that other financial centres will emerge, especially as Asia gets richer. Also, the financial pre-eminence of the City is what has made our current recession worse and it has created banks that are 'too big' to easily rescue.
